Q: One can outline three distinct phases in the last 25 years. In the first phase Motilal Oswal (MOS) was born in 1987 till reforms took hold and Manmohan Singh said that we need to do some fundamental activities to open up the economy during 1987-1992. When you look back it was a period of great chaos, there was open outcry, physical delivery, lack of regulation, disclosure and there were many things that are very different from what we all know and accept and take as natural today. The second phase was from 1992 till the beginning of this decade which was marked by a sea-change in many areas where we had a world class stock coming up, the NSE. Birth of market regulator, Sebi, opening up of the economy and importantly we became outward looking. With world-class settlement system which changed the way exchanges worked; volumes and the ability for people to believe that the market was a safe place. Finally, in the third phase we saw foreign inflows coming in a big way and maturing of the efforts like top quality research and the best practices of the western world being adopted. We saw also the impact of technology what it can do for this industry and we had in 2007 at the end of 2007 a global event that had significant impact on financial markets around the world. So, if you look back and you go back to that first phase the 1987 to 1992 phase, what are your takeaways from that period? How do you think, what did you do then that was different from what you did subsequently and what you would do now?
Raamdeo Agrawal: In 1987, the so called information arbitrage between this firm that came into existence because there was a difference in stock price of 10% different between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This was the spot market difference which was prevailing at that point of time.

This stock has been uptrending strong for the last month, with shares moving higher from its low of $2.27 to its intraday high of $3.15. During that move, shares of GFA have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of GFA within range of triggering a big breakout trade. That trade will hit if GFA manages to take out Tuesday's high of $3.15 to some past resistance at $3.30 with high volume.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in GFA as long as it's trending above support at $2.80 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 1.77 million shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then GFA will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at its 200-day moving average of $3.68 to more resistance at $4.20 to $4.70.

NHI is forming a "rounding bottom" pattern, a basic classic setup that looks exactly like it sounds: it's identified by a curved support level below shares and a horizontal resistance level to the top side. That rounded support line indicates a gradual shift in control from sellers to buyers -- and resistance at $63 is the price level to watch from here.
Why all the significance at $63? It all comes down to buyers and sellers. Price patterns are a good quick way to identify what's going on in the price action, but they're not the reason a stock is tradable. Instead, the "why" comes down to basic supply and demand for NHI's stock.
The $63 resistance level is a price where there has been an excess of supply of shares; in other words, it's a spot where sellers have previously been more eager to step in and take gains than buyers have been to buy. That's what makes a breakout above $63 so significant -- the move means that buyers are finally strong enough to absorb all of the excess supply above that price level.

Distribution
The Company�� centralized global distribution group distributes and supports its United States and international funds and retail separately managed account program business. The United States-based operations of the Company�� global distribution group support and distribute the Legg Mason Funds, The Royce Funds and the Western Asset Funds, and include its mutual fund wholesalers and its institutional funds marketing group. The Company�� mutual fund wholesalers distribute the Legg Mason Funds through a number of third-party distributors. The Company�� institutional funds marketing group distributes institutional share classes of the Legg Mason Funds and the Western Asset Funds to institutional clients and also distributes variable annuity sub-advisory services provided by its asset managers to insurance companies. Its institutional liquidity funds are primarily distributed by Western Asset's distributors. In addition to its centralized funds distribution group, Royce & Associates' distributors also distribute The Royce Funds. In addition to distributing funds, the wholesalers in the Company�� global distribution operations also support its retail separately managed account program services.
