Best Industrial Disributor Companies To Invest In 2014

For this review, I looked for weak and oversold market averages on monthly charts by using one of my favorite technical indicatorsSI (Relative Strength Index)o identify what may be promising buy areas from which rallies could develop, explains Bonnie Gortler in Systems and Forecasts.

Although it was not an easy task to find market averages that are oversold on a long-term basis, because the stock market has been trending higher since 2009, I found four out-of-favor ETFs that intrigued me and could be good investment opportunities in 2014.

The iShares Silver Trust ETF (SLV), which tracks silver bullion, peaked in April 2011 at $48.35. A rally attempt, from the lows in June 2012, failed in September 2012, and was unable to gather much momentum to the upside until July of 2013. Once again, the rally failed.

SLV is best for aggressive traders, not for conservative investors, because it is very volatile. Aggressive traders could buy now if they want to take a chance that the bottom is in and don't want to wait until the downtrend is broken. I do suggest a tight stop of 5% below your purchase, just in case the final bottom is not in.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Evan Niu, CFA]

iPad display supplier LG Display (NYSE: LPL  ) is expected to see total iPad panel shipments (including full-sized and Mini) fall sequentially from 5 million units last month to 3.5 million units in April. LG Display's volume may continue falling through the next two months. Investors have mostly wised up to speculative supply chain rumblings, but when combined with legitimately negative news from a major component supplier, those rumors carry a little more weight.

You don't have to be an expert technical trader to figure out what's going on in shares of Brandywine Realty Trust (BDN) -- this chart pattern is about as simple as it gets. Brandywine has been bouncing higher in a well-defined uptrending channel since last summer, giving traders a high-probability range to buy the dips.

More specifically, the ideal buying opportunity has come up for BDN bulls every time this stock has bounced off of trendline support along the bottom of the channel. Waiting for a meaningful bounce off of support is crucial for two big reasons: It's the spot where shares have the furthest to move up before they hit resistance, and it's also the spot where the risk is the least (because shares have the least room to move lower before you know you're wrong).

Remember, all trend lines do eventually break, but by actually waiting for the bounce to happen first, you're ensuring BDN can actually still catch a bid along that line before you put your money on shares. At current levels, BDN pays out a whopping 4% dividend yield.
